Learn STEM By Playing

What is STEM and why is it important?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Simply put these four fields put together are in every part of our every day lives. From how our food is produced, to how we communicate and everything else in between, STEM influences our quality of life. Teaching kids about the core four areas helps them become better prepared for a future that will be increasingly STEM-focused.

Math & Engineering
Did you know... According to a Pew Research Center analysis, STEM jobs have grown nearly 80% since 1990 which is greater than average US job growth.  Looking ahead, there's no reason to anticipate the trends will change.

Technology
Although iD Tech notes that 71% of all new STEM jobs fall under computing, few STEM grads have computer science training (~8%) which means coding/programming skills are critical.

Science
While women comprise ~half the workforce, they make up only ~24% of STEM occupations.  With the US seeking to remain competitive and higher wages in STEM careers, there's even more incentive to help the next generation of scientists advance.

The best way to learn STEM is by doing... and having fun of course!

Our goal at STEMium is to get kids excited about STEM and interested in learning more. While it might not be as tough as getting them to pick up their room or eat vegetables, it can be a challenge for any parent to build excitement about science and math. We get it! We are here to help! --- Raising the next generation of scientists, engineers and tech entrepreneurs is something we take seriously. Yet, the way to accomplish it is not by being serious at all about STEM. Instead, we focus on finding projects, toys and games that don't necessarily feel like learning to kids. They're just something fun to do!

Experiments

Science fairs are a great way to get kids involved in STEM - and also the scientific method!  Our guides and projects help you go from start to finish, while minimizing the stress of getting through a project.

Resources

You have the best of intentions and want to help your kids expand their science training or tech literacy, but have no idea where to start.  Don't worry!  Our resource guides provide a range of options, as well as delving into pros/cons of all the approaches so you can make the best investment for your kids.

Toys

Kids love to play!  And mixing toys with STEM makes for a natural way to build that excitement.  Educational toys are everywhere these days!  However, some are better at teaching than others.  Our in-depth product reviews give a unique look at these products not only from the parent perspective, but from a kids' and scientist's point of view too.
