Looking for a STEM summer camp option in California or Chicago areas? Then Camp Galileo may be a good option. Camp Galileo is the flagship program from Galileo Learning that caters to Pre-K-5th grade students. While the company is headquartered in Oakland, California, they have locations in different parts of California (Bay Area, Southern California) and in the Chicago area (Lincoln Park and suburbs such as Winnetka, Evanston and LaGrange).
What We Like About It
Camp Galileo offers new themes for each camp that rotate on a weekly cycle. With each new camp the topics range from biology events like the Incredible Human Body, to Maker challenges and space exploration. Pretty cool!
Also notable, the camp features a nice camper:teacher ratio (8:1) for the younger age groups that might benefit from some closer guidance. Be sure to check out the Camp Galileo page to get a better idea of current themes being offered. Beyond the STEM coursework, camps offer “add-on’s” which we think will help working parents. For example, additional options for extended care and purchasing a healthy lunch at camp during the week are also available. Both of which could make this week a little more do-able or convenient for some families.
