Code Play Learn – STEM Camps
Based in/near Chicago, Code Play Learn offers a number of STEM courses during the year. For summer, the lineup switches over to STEM summer camps which introduce campers to programs like ROBLOX coding, app creation, sport & chess camp (haven’t seen a lot of these!) and even a Rube Goldberg course that merges design and robotics. STEM camps through Code Play Learn are offered in Oak Park or Glenview — two Chicago suburbs. Age ranges vary depending on which camp is selected; however, Code Play Learn offers a range of courses/camps for kids from 1st grade through 7th grade.
Also notable – Math Camps are offered that offer courses ~1 hour in length to kids ranging from 6th grade through 12th grade.
What We Like About It
For starters, we like all things Chicago. 🙂 But for real, the curriculum definitely stands out. For example, Gadget creation brings together creative/artistic elements along with tech and engineering. Also a bonus, the incorporation of physical activity!! Parking your kids in a STEM classroom during summer can be a tough sell to you (and probably the kids too). However, adding games and sports to the mix gives them an opportunity to run and play. The Roblox coding curriculum also stands out as we have seen fewer of these (in lieu of Minecraft courses).
Bottom line – if you are located in the Chicago area, the Code Play Learn camps may be worth a look.
