KSI STEM Summer Camp
Knowledge Systems Institute (KSI) STEM Summer Camp marks another Chicago-area summer STEM offering. So, for all you Midwest campers — and specifically, those who are close to/on the North side of the city, we encourage you to take a look at this one! KSI is a nonprofit group that focuses on increasing computational literacy by hosting seminars for the public and STEM summer camp activities. The primary focus at KSI STEM summer camp stays on building projects so kids can get fully immersed, and robotics. Also offered – a track on financial literacy where summer campers learn more about money management and investing. While not necessarily within STEM, such an important area for kids to get exposure! The goal is to expose kids to how finance and technology play together.
Of note, pricing starts at $400 per week for the half-day programs, but moves up to $750 per week for full-day. Financial aid is available so please reach out to KSI for more information.
What We Like About It
First and foremost, the hands-on nature of the programs stands out. You’ve seen our motto (Learn STEM by Playing). We are partial to STEM activities that really delve kids into the mix. KSI does not disappoint and some of their demo projects should get any kid with a robotics interest fired up to show up. Check out this video below from their YouTube channel.
Second, we love the project focus. Kids see their efforts coming together. Even better, seeing the finished product helps keep a vision of what they’re aiming for at the front of their minds.
Lastly, financial literacy courses are awesome! OK. I know many kids won’t jump at the chance to go to a financial summer camp. Still, given how important , and the way KSI weaves in the technology aspect, this could be worthwhile for your potential campers.
