Space Camp

Space Camp

If you’ve heard of Space Camp, then you’ll understand why it’s on the list.  For those who are unfamiliar with it, Space Camp is a range of camps offered in Huntsville, Alabama.  The flagship program is probably the most well known, but there are also a number of other offerings focused not only on space, but also robotics, aviation and even a cyber camp.  Programs vary in their age acceptance with some taking younger kids (9-11yrs) and others spanning older groups (12-18yrs).  Camps generally run a full week.

What We Like About It

Ok.  This section could probably be called “we like everything about this and think it’s really cool”, but it would take up way too much header space.

For any 80s movie fans, of course, you will probably be familiar with the movie.  Now, could kids really get blasted into space during their time at Space Camp??  Probably not going to happen.  Could they get totally into STEM??  Far more likely!  In fact, Space Camp’s survey of former campers says that 96% indicate the camp has changed their STEM outlook.  This is one of the most memorable STEM camps that comes to mind, particularly given its extensive history.  While admission is competitive, if your child has any interest in space, check out the website for more information.
